Turok 6 - The Story

The next Turok game picks up right where the 2008 Turok left off: Turok, Slade (and whoever) are in the ship escaping from the planet - but they don't make it...

Part I - Intro

• The ship crashes a respectable distance from Kane's base. Not sure whether it's shot down or what.
• Turok is the only survivor. Though the chance to put Slade out of his misery would be a nice touch - I don't know why Turok thought he had to prove himself to that meely- mouthed cry baby - what an annoyance he was.
• There's no ammo and Turok has only his bow and knife.
• Turok finds a flare gun in the wreckage and it becomes part of his permanent arsenal (see Turok 2). In addition to providing the means to be able to lure dinosaurs at any time (i.e. don't need to have the shotgun) it could be used to actually illuminate dark creepy caves (see Xbox Doom)
• Communications are shot so Turok heads out on foot to make his way back to the base.
• He runs into the same sort of dinos found in T5 - these serve as tutorials/warm-ups for the knife, bow and flare gun. Being able to dual-wield the knife and flare would be cool.

Part II - The Ancients

• As Turok makes his way through the jungles he realizes he's being stalked/followed - rustles and whispers from the brush: that sort of thing.
• We see the end of a blow gun appearing, hear the 'Pffffft' and he's hit by the dart and starts feeling dizzy.
• The Ancients appear from the trees all around him - too many to fight, he runs - not easily thanks to the dart.
• There's a round of cat and mouse battling with Turok being rendered 'dizzy' by darts. They've got bows and spears as well - which kill him.
• The surroundings here are the moss covered, ancient Aztec kind of stone and wood settings from the 1st few games.
• Throughout this battle, players really start wishing they had some real firepower (still no guns: all knife, bow & dino for the player)
• After a time, Turok finally succumbs to the darts and - just when it looks like it's all over for poor Turok - it's cut-scene time:
• Gunfire erupts and The Ancients are all wiped out. Just before losing consciousness, sees his rescuers are human solders.

Part III - The New Base

• Turok awakens at a man-made base and meets his human rescuers.
• Things go bad quickly as these guys turn out to be even worse than Kane - who in the current game had concocted a biological weapon.
• It turns out his wasn't the only bunch of mercenaries here exploiting the planet's biological wonders. These guys are into genetics and the number 1 villain in this game is the evil scientist.
• They're using fauna (or whatever) to mutate The Ancients and the local dinos into Dinosoids: cheap, fearsome, monstrous soldiers.
• Once they realize Turok is against them on this, they become enemies and Turok must escape the base.
• Now we finally break out the firepower as there's plenty available in the base. Much corridor based FPS-ing ensues.
• Throughout all this, the Dinosoids on hand have been safely caged. As the base takes a beating during Turok's escape, the mechanisms break and out they come.

Part IV - The Dinosoids

• We don't hear them talk (not yet anyway - maybe never) but they're obviously intelligent and waste no time getting weapons (same as soldiers - guns) and organizing.
• Think 'intelligent pack hunters' in how their communications are carried out - quick nods of the head, eye contact. Almost telepathic - but not.
• Naturally, there will be more varieties as the game progresses, but this batch is a lean, mean, humanoid version of  a Velociraptor. They'll need to end up in the human armor at some point so they'll need to lean to the human side in form.
• More fighting focused on these guys who are quicker and tougher than the human foes of late. We're still in the base here.
• We learn just how nutso Villain is - he's thrilled by the power and skills of the early Dinosoids and made a new batch of the stuff that goes to work right away on life forms. He uses it on himself and releases it within the base.
• We see the remnants of Villain's army (which, like all game mercenary armies, are legion) being transformed into The Tanks of the Dinosoid army.
• Turok is really hauling ass at this point to stay away from the chemicals as much as the soldiers.
• As the game moves outside the base, so do the chemicals. We see it flowing into the river and released as smoke when mixed with all the burning remnants of the base. We know this is going to mean big trouble later.

Part V - The Ancients Revisited

• Turok still has to get to the old base for communications.
• Along the way he sees (and battles) effects of the leaked chemicals/vapors/microbes/whatever: mutated dinos and plants as well as the regular dinos - who should always be around.
• Now realizing they're allies, Turok befriends The Ancients by walking helpless into their midst (in a very manly and heroic, Mel Gibson sort of way) and telling them what's going on.
• Here's where Turok picks up more on his heritage as we see him communicating with The Ancients in much the same way the Native Americans and early settlers must have: through gestures and drawing pictures in the dirt - Hollywood sort of stuff. Want to go for warrior face paint? Here's your chance. He could decorate what's left of his body armor with native looking stuff. How bad ass would that be?
• If there's going to be dino-riding - here's where it starts.
• If there's going to be squad-based usage of The Ancients - here's where it starts.

Part ? - The Rest Of The Game

• At this point, the main elements and characters are in place. Maybe we're a quarter through the game now. Dunno what happens next.
• Another ship full of marines could arrive to rescue Turok - more comrades and bodies to mutate.
• Part V could be dropped altogether if you want to stick to a more standard shooter format (and there's nothing wrong with that)

Part ?I - The End

• The battlefield a smokey ruin, Turok standing victorious over the decimated carcasses of the best the enemy had, he looks over to the ...
• At this point, Turok getting off the planet is pointless as far as the Dinosoid track goes. With no way to call for help or fly off the planet, he's stuck. Might as well stick around and make the most of it as a new world develops stocked with Ancients, Dinosoids and Human survivors. When we next play Turok, who knows what the world he - or his descendants - will live in? It's a big planet.
• Credits roll. Praise is heaped.
