Turok 6 - Gameplay Elements

Weapons

• It's hard to justify anything too different than what was available in the current game but I don't think anyone would call chicanery on a few stretches to get a cerebral bore back in the game.
• Of course, riding dinos would be a weapon in itself. Perhaps it could be like dual-wielding: one hand aims and fires your weapon while the other moves your dino (and, therefore, you) and its 'trigger' is it attacking a nearby enemy.
• I really liked using the chain gun as a sentry from the current game.
• Need many more opportunities for using dinos as weapons.

3rd Person

• Even before the current game, I was thinking that Turok games needed more 3rd person play. When you're a cool character like a Native American bad ass, it's a shame to not see more of yourself running around. I was happy to see the dino wrestling in 3rd person in the current game. They can't just be cut scenes next time.
• Switching to 3rd person for the dino riding would probably work best - like driving the ghosts(?) in Halo.
• Remember Oddworld Stranger's Wrath? I really loved the way it mixed 1st and 3rd and hoped more games would follow suit. Getting knocked out of 1st person by enemies was very annoying, though.
• Maybe you're in 3rd person whenever you equip the knife

Squad Based

• Personally, I don't like squad-based play and even having NPCs just doing their best at my side can be annoying. There were times in the current game I wanted to go in all stealthy with knife and bow only to have one of my mates rush in and turn it into a fire fight.
• Their endless jabbering isn't useful - back to annoying (I'm looking at you, Slade!).
• Finally, I'm playing this game to kill stuff myself, not have the game do it for me. All right, off my soapbox.

Finding Stuff

When you've got such a cool environment to explore, give me some real reason - a few pickups or unlockables. Feed my OCD, please. There were a few places in the current game where you could explore and find some ammo - need more, better, please.

RPG

This is a stretch but not unprecedented.

• I sure loved those poison arrows from Turok Evolution. Turok could collect distinct plants from the environment which are applied to his arrows to add effects such as poison, confuse (turn target against its allies), stun, etc.
• I don't like the regenerating health system unless I can believe it as part of the game's reality - Master Chief's armor regenerates: sure; My unprotected, Native American hide? No, real men use health pick-ups. In addition to the human made ones lying around (you know, the one's with the American Red Cross symbol on them), certain plants have health restoration or power-boosting affects as well.
• If you want to play up the mysticism angle, plants could supply invisibility and such.
• A less mystical alternative would be a plant that acts as a repellant to dinos: Turok could apply it to himself, then aggravate a bunch of dinos and join them in attacking soldiers/Dinosoids/mutants. The dinos would ignore him as long as the plant effects hold.
